In a little over an hours time our journey to the University city of Oxford will be complete. Heading west over the Chiltern Hills we descend down to the Thames valley to this 'city of dreaming spires' and take a walking tour amongst the cloisters and quadrangles of Britain's oldest University, founded in 1167. Ivy clad medieval college buildings compete for space with Georgian shops and ancient churches around busy streets which both 'Town and Gown' call home. Our guided walking tour will take you into the heart of this land of hallowed academia, to the Bodleian Library, to the Radcliffe Camera, Sheldonian Theatre and selected colleges.
After a break we head out to the nearby Cotswold hills. Here we can find the little back roads taking us away from the busy highways. We meander down country lanes, through villages of honey coloured stone, to Burford and Stow-on-the-Wold and to the charming twins of Upper and Lower Slaughter. A stop for a leisurely lunch is made in one of these places then we set off to Stratford-on-Avon in Warwickshire.
Known the world over as the birthplace of the great poet William Shakespeare we, quite rightly, take you to the house where he was born (entry included) and to Holy Trinity church where he was both baptised and buried. Many other centuries-old houses survive, some of these have associations with the writer. After a guided tour of the town and some free time we continue for a photo stop at Anne Hathaway's cottage, a beautiful timber-framed thatched farmhouse that was Shakespeare's wife's childhood home before we finally continue on our journey south to London.

> 8.30 am Minibus departs from International Students House, Great Portland Street, London MAP
We travel north and head for the Roman and Medieval city of Chester. With over 2000 years of history, this is one of Europe's top heritage sites. The city is surrounded by walls and also has military museums and a Roman Amphitheatre. After our visit we make the short journey across the border into Wales, visiting some truly amazing scenery on the North Wales coast. We stop briefly in the fishing village of Conwy, home to one of the most imposing Castles in Britain, Conwy Castle. Built on a rock overlooking the city the castle was built by the English King Edward the First to ‘contain' the Welsh. We have time to walk the ancient walls, see the smallest house in Britain and take in the beautiful harbour. After sunset at the Great Orm, we end the day at our friendly guest house.
DAY TWO (Sunday):
> 8.30 depart from hotel.
After brief visits to Caernarfon (with an even grander example of English Edward's castles) and to the village with the long name, we head into Snowdonia with photo/walkabout stops such as the exquisite lake Llyn Padarn, the Pass of Llanberis and the village of Beddgelert where your guide will tell you its sad history.
Included in the tour price is a memorable steam train ride into the mountains at the end of which you revert to the bus for the return to London - hopefully with time before re-entering England to marvel at one of the world's greatest engineering achievements and one which helped put the "Great" into Great Britain.

Here you will find rolling hills and pretty villages and market towns full of character. Our journey this morning takes us to the historic market town of Stow-on-the-Wold. In the early afternoon, we drive along one of the most charming narrow back-road routes in the Cotswolds, where large coaches are not allowed to visit in what has been described as England's most beautiful village - Bibury. This is in the heart of the Cotswolds and what we might consider to be the real England with its old country pubs, traditional village stores and well kept gardens.
