Heading away we travel on to Glastonbury the unofficial New Age Capital of England. The Abbey is believed to be the first Christian structure in Britain and legendary burial place of King Arthur and Lady Guinevere. The nearby Tor is believed to guard the entrance to the Underworld! Our last stop for the day is at Wells. The Cathedral here is one of the most beautiful Medieval buildings making Wells one of the smallest cities in England. Don't forget to visit the medieval Vicar's Close. Then it is on to our hotel for the night.
SUNDAY
After breakfast we travel to Cheddar Gorge. We will travel through the steep limestone gorge. You can visit the famous Cheddar Show caves and take a spectacular trip underground. Don't forget Cheddar is home to the famous Cheddar Cheese.
On to Bristol where we will visit 2 examples of the great engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. First the Clifton Suspension Bridge 245 foot high spanning the River Avon. The second is SS Great Britain. First launched in 1843 as the first ever iron passenger liner that operated between England and Australia.
